The release of Ram Gopal Varma's Bhairava Geetha has been delayed for a long time. Now, the buzz in the industry is that the delay in its censorship is the reason for postponing its release by a week.

Bhairava Geetha is a bilingual action drama that has been made in Kannada and Telugu. Initially, the movie was set to be released in the cinema halls on October 12 with Junior NTR's Aravinda Sametha. But its release postponed several times in later days due to various reasons. Finally, the makers announced to release both the versions on December 7.

But to everyone's surprise, the Telugu version was once again delayed, while the Kannada version hit the screens as per the schedule. Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, "Due to more number of screens availability and other promotion related issues, @ThattSidd's #BhairavaGeetha is now releasing in Kannada on Dec 7th and in Telugu on Dec 14th ⁦@Dhananjayaka⁩ ⁦@Irra_Mor⁩"

However, sources from the Telugu film industry have a different say on the reason for the delay in the release of its Telugu version. "Bhairava Geetha's censor in Telugu has been facing a problem because the filmmakers could not produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Animal Welfare Board," a movie portal quoted a source as saying.

The source added, "It is mandatory that any film that shows animals directly or indirectly has to procure an NOC from Animal Welfare Board of India certifying that no harm was done to the animals in their film. Since the filmmakers of Bhairava Geetha couldn't produce the NOC within the time of screening, the film couldn't be censored and thus, it has led to a delay in release. But now as the makers have produced NOC from Animal Welfare Board of India from Delhi. The movie will be censored today."

Ram Gopal Varma watched Bhairava Geetha with Dhananjaya and director Siddhartha Shankar at Santosh Theatre, Gandhinagar in Bangalore on Friday. He was overwhelmed with the response of the audience. Responding to Irra Mor, RGV tweeted, "Hey @Irra_Mor Me, @Dhananjayaka and @ThathSidd missed you at the show ..U have to see the response to believe it ..Happy for u all that ur hard work paid off"
