Sunny Leone

Sunny Leone was denied permission to perform at a New Year bash in Bengaluru by the City Police citing law and order concerns after a local organisation raised objections to the event. The city police chief T Suneel Kumar on Saturday, December 16, said it would not be possible to provide enough security at the venue as its entire force would be on duty across the city on the same night.

After the police expressed its inability to ensure security, Sunny decided cancel her scheduled programme in Bengaluru. The cancellation of the event left everyone fuming who came out in support of the actress and slammed the Congress government in Karnataka along with Karnataka Police for failing to provide security for the event.

But when a user raised a pertinent question of how Sunny Leone is any different from other Bollywood actresses, calling out the hypocrisy of the minds, the former adult star made a statement though a number of throwback photographs of the veteran actresses like Mandakini, Rekha and Zeenat Aman. Sunny called hem as her idols.

"A few women in Bollywood who have taught me that it's perfectly okay to be myself. Sharmila Tagore, Mandakini, Dimple Kapadia, Rekha, Zeenat Aman and Madhubala," Sunny wrote on Instagram.

"Since the police of Bengaluru have publicly said that they will not be able to ensure mine, and all who attend, safety for my New Years event, my team and I feel, safety of the people should always come first. Therefore, I cannot attend. God bless and I wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year," Sunny tweeted after she learned about the cancellation of her event.

"To all those who protested and to all those who supported, always remember, never allow others to speak and choose for you. Have your own voice and make your own choices. You are the youth and you are the NEW INDIA! Stand Proud and Stand together. I love you all dearly," she added.

Sunny, who started her career in Bollywood with Jism 2 in 2012, she went on to appear in films like Ragini MMS 2, Hate Story 2, Mastizaade, Raees and Baadshaho. She was last seen alongside Arbaaz Khan in Tera Intezaar, which released earlier this month.
