Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron starrer Baywatch is one of the much-awaited comedy dramas of the summer and is set to release on May 25 in the US, but the reviews of the film are already out. The makers held a special screening of the film for celebs and critics last week and the reviews are coming out now.

According to critics, Baywatch lives up to its R-Rated comedy rating, but it offers nothing more. Critics say that the film has funny moments and likeable actors, but it falls flat in the end. Zac's acting, comic timing and chiselled abs are the only saving grace of the comedy drama.

Read below what critics have to say about Dwayne-Zac starrer Baywatch:

Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter said: "A big-screen reboot so lifeless and mechanical that even its end-credits out-takes are not amusing, Baywatch proves much less than the sum of its undeniably attractive body parts."

Ben Robins of Flickering Myth said: "It's not quite the summer movie event of the year, or really even Johnson or Efron's best, but between the pair's winning comedic chemistry, plenty of killer one-liners and an (at times, excessively) fun tone, there's just enough to enjoy here to make Baywatch worth a watch."

Owen Gleiberman of The Variety said: "In the second half of "Baywatch," Johnson's Mitch gets knocked out of the action for a while, and when he does, the movie goes thud. Was it really The Rock who was holding it all together? That and our nostalgic affection for "Baywatch," which in a movie like this one becomes a form of living off vapors."

Gav Murphy of IGN said: "Before seeing Baywatch, I felt like the whole thing had a lot of promise but unfortunately that's hidden behind stagnant comedy which has been sold to us under the cheap guise of something recognisable from 25 years ago."

Amy West of International Business Times, UK said: "On the flip side, Efron is undoubtedly the film's saving grace, using his experience of playing a slightly crazy-eyed cocky guy à la Bad Neighbours or Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates to good use and owning his character's more comedic moments."

Directed by Seth Gordon, the movie features Dwayne, Zac, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Jon Bass in pivotal roles.
