Bajaj Auto is inching closer to the launch of the Pulsar CS400 that will be positioned as the flagship model of the Pulsar range. As per new reports, the Pune-based auto manufacturer will launch the top-end Pulsar model in the next fiscal. This means the launch can be expected between July and September ahead of the festive season.

"We are planning to launch an upgrade for the Platina (entry-level model) and a totally new Pulsar at the top-end in the next quarter," Bajaj Auto President (Business Development & Assurance) S Ravikumar told PTI. The company is also targeting 25 percent market share and will invest Rs. 575 crore this fiscal for launch of new products, reports the Financial Express.

The motorcycle has been caught testing with camouflage guise for a number of times this year. The spy shots indicate the Pulsar CS400 production-spec will remain identical to the concept model that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014.

Bajaj Pulsar CS400 will be powered by a single-cylinder, liquid cooled, 375cc engine derived from the KTM 390 Duke. The engine is expected to develop close to 44bhp and will be mated to six-speed transmission. The Pulsar CS400 will be the first motorcycle from Bajaj Auto using a 375cc engine.

The Pulsar CS400 is expected to get features like LED headlamps, digital instrument panel, wide tyres and LED taillight. The bike is also expected to have disc brakes for both the front and the rear, while ABS may be offered as an option. The upside down front suspension in the concept has made way for thick telescopic suspension in the testing motorcycle. It will feature mono suspension at the rear.

The flagship Pulsar model is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 1.70 lakh to Rs. 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
