Bajaj Auto will not take part in the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 in February. Two days ahead of the show, on 1 February, the Pune-based two- and three-wheeler manufacturer confirmed that it is gearing up to launch an all new motorcycle.

Though the company has not revealed any information on the motorcycle, it is widely rumoured to be an executive segment motorcycle. The new motorcycle is expected to be a 150cc bike that will be positioned between Discover 150 and Pulsar 150AS.

The rumour is more likely to be real since Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto confirmed new executive segment under works in an interview to ETAuto. The company is looking to raise the current 20,000 units per month sales in executive segment to 70,000 units. Bajaj Auto currently sells the Discover series of motorcycles in the executive segment.

The 1 February launch will see the first bike among the motorcycles under the new executive brand of Bajaj Auto that will add more models ranging from 125cc to 150cc later. The new models under the sub-brand are expected to come loaded with more features and are likely to be priced higher than the current Discover range.

Bajaj Auto recently announced its decision to reduce the price of its commuter motorcycle, the CT100, to below Rs 35,000 when its entry-level segment growth surpassed targeted 35% early this month. The company is also working on a Platina model with over 100kmpl fuel efficiency to enhance the market share. The new executive bike will further help the company increase its dominance in the 150cc segment.
