Just a few months from now, auto lovers of the country will witness South Korean Auto major Hyundai's new SUV ix25 on Indian roads. Ahead of its much-awaited arrival in the Indian market, the company showcased the model at the ongoing 2015 Auto Shanghai show.
Hyundai ix25, a compact SUV that made its maiden appearance at 2014 Chengdu Motor Show, is expected to reach the Indian showrooms by August, this year. The model, which is already being sold in China, is based on the company's Fluidic Design philosophy, and is speculated to get a different name in the Indian market.
Coming to the features of the new ix25, the engine line-up of the model includes 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines in the international market, coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. In India, the ix25 is likely to draw power from 1.4 litre diesel engine along with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills.
As for styling, although the India-bound version of ix25 will retain the same style and design of its global counterparts, minor tweaks are expected. Once it hits the market, ix25 will be pitted against Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio, and Nissan Terrano. From what we have heard so far, Hyundai's ix25 is likely to be priced in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
