Q3 S, the smallest SUV in Audi's 'Q' series, will hit the roads in India on 19 August, announced the company.

German luxury carmaker Audi, which is targeting the price sensitive market of India, is likely to launch the new base variant of Q3 for ₹25 lakh. The upcoming car is expected to be a strong opponent to Mercedes's A and B-Class and the upcoming BMW 1-series.

Under the hood, the soon-to-be-launched Audi Q3 S will pack the de-tuned 2.0-litre TDI engine of which is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-litre TDI engine produces a power of 40 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm and the new model will miss Quattro AWD system and the daytime running LED lights. The vehicle will be brought as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units to the country and will assemble at the company's Aurangabad facility.

Audi India, which marked a growth of 21 percent during the first half of 2013, recently launched its S6 and RS 5 Coupe in India.

The company hopes to increase its market in the sub continent with the new launch. The company also reviewed the prices of its SUVs in the domestic market after the annual budget. It said that the prices of all its India-bound models will be increased by 2-3 percent to counter the fall of the rupee in the global market.
