Kerala is set to witness a highly charged political contest in Aruvikkara by-election on Saturday, 27 June. Besides traditional rivals United Democratic Front (UDF) and Left Democratic Front (LDF), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also claim upper hand as public campaign comes to an end at 5 pm on Thursday.
After Mollywood actors came forward to campaign for the BJP and LDF, the Congress brought South Indian actress Kushboo Sunder to promote party leader G Karthikeyan's son KS Sabarinathan.
During the election campaign, Kushboo criticised the LDF leaders, who are not capable of solving the issues within the party and even challenged VS Achuthanandan, Pinarayi Vijayan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to share a stage together.
Kushboo lauded the activities of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as well as the UDF party, which includes the supply of rice for ₹1, introduction of Karunya lottery and liquor ban in the state.
While she appreciated Rahul Gandhi's 'padayatra' movement, the actress criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for travelling all over the world and his selfie moments.

Malayalam action hero Suresh Gopi and other small screen artists campaigned for BJP candidate O Rajagopal. Chalakudy MP and actor Innocent campaigned for the LDF candidate M Vijayakumar.
Meghna Vincent, who is known for her role as Amrutha in popular Malayalam serial "Chandanamazha", became the butt of all jokes on social media due to her "dumb" statements on the pathetic condition of Aruvikkara roads.
