Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is reportedly open to joining Arsenal next summer but not Manchester United.

The Uruguay international remains unhappy at the Ligue 1 outfit, having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic more often than not, since signing for the French giants from Napoli in a big-money move in 2013.

Cavani has always expressed an interest in playing in the Premier League and, according to the Express, the player will weigh up the option yet again in the summer.

The 27-year-old is understood to be willing to move to Arsenal, who have been long-time admirers, but is likely to turn down the chance to join United, who have also been strongly linked with the forward, till Radamel Falcao arrived on loan from Monaco.

The report claims the prospect of living in London and facing less fierce competition for the central striker role have tipped the scales in Arsene Wenger's favour. It also says that though PSG will not sanction the sale of Cavani in January, the stance will soften in the summer.

Arsenal's priority signings remain a defensive midfielder and a central-back but an experienced and lethal finisher could be on the agenda in the summer. However, it still remains to be seen if Wenger will be willing to splash the cash needed to land Cavani.

The forward has made 19 appearances in all competitions for PSG this season, scoring 11 goals.

Meanwhile, out-of-favour Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has stated that he wants to return to former club Koln one day.

The Germany international, who is yet to make a Premier League start for the Gunners this season, spent 14 years with the Bundesliga club, after joining their academy back in 1995.

Podolski, who has suggested several times of late that he would leave Arsenal if he does not get more playing time, has now opened up on his desire to return to his boyhood club.

"I can imagine a transfer to FC in the next few years because I'm always attached to the club," the Daily Star quoted the 29-year-old as saying.

"I have always said that I want to hear this hymn again when walking up the stairs with the number 10 shirt. That's what I dream about and I hope it comes true again."
