Nicole Kidman is having a great year. First she took over television with Big Little Lies, then rocked the Cannes Film Festival 2017 with her numerous projects and now she is headed to rule the seas in Aquaman.

Playing the role of Aquaman Jason Momoa's mother in the DCEU movie, Kidman said she is excited to play the female warrior of the sea.

The actress recently touched down on the Gold Coast to begin the filming as the Queen Atlanna in the DCEU movie. While the actress has earlier revealed the reason behind accepting the role, in her interaction with Deadline, Kidman shared she is pumped about taking on the high tides.

"Well, James Wan is Australian, and he's a friend of mine. I think he's going to make an amazing movie. We've always circled each other, so when he came to me, I was like, 'James, I'll do anything for you.' When he said 'female warrior from the sea' who wears mother of pearl, I went, 'Yes. Female warrior from the sea. Me like,'" she told the entertainment website.

Kidman told that Wan was a great friend of hers and she signed up Aquaman because she wanted to have some fun.

The female warrior role not only got Kidman hooked but also her daughters who are equally excited about the project. She told Graham Norton on The Graham Norton Show that her children encouraged her to take it up.

"My daughters were like, 'Do you get to wear a crown? Do you get to have a tail?' I said, 'I get to have mother of pearl all over my body,' and they were like, 'Oh do it mummy!' and I wanted to have some fun," she said.

First look of Aquaman:

This is not the first superhero movie of the actress. She played the role of Dr Chase Meridian in the 1995 Batman Forever movie. However, this is her first DCEU movie.

But before she joined the DCEU world with Aquaman, Kidman was approached for a crucial role in Wonder Woman but things did not pan out as planned and the talk eventually faded out.

Aquaman also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Michael K Williams, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul Mateen II. The film is slated to be released on December 21, 2018.
