Samajwadi Party MP and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan once again found herself in the spotlight after a video from the INDIA bloc protest march in Delhi surfaced online. In the clip, Jaya was seen gesturing a journalist's microphone away while being questioned about a poster during the protest.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with users discussing Jaya's approach towards media interactions. While she has often been seen expressing her displeasure with paparazzi approaching her in public, this time the interaction involved a journalist during a political protest.

Jaya has previously drawn a clear distinction between journalists and paparazzi. In 2025, she said that her relationship with the media was "fantastic" but described her relationship with paparazzi as "zero". She also questioned the professionalism of photographers who approach celebrities with mobile phones and record them in public.

Her latest interaction has therefore renewed discussion around the veteran actor's long-standing stance on media access and personal space. The video has prompted mixed reactions online, with some users criticising her gesture while others pointed to her repeated statements about not wanting intrusive interactions with photographers.

The INDIA bloc protest was held in Delhi as Opposition MPs marched towards the Election Commission headquarters, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. The protest saw several prominent Opposition leaders participate, with security personnel stopping the march near the ECI office.

Jaya, who has been a Samajwadi Party MP in the Rajya Sabha, was among the Opposition leaders present during the demonstration. Her brief interaction with the journalist, however, became one of the moments from the protest that drew attention online.

The latest video also adds another chapter to Jaya's often-discussed relationship with the media. From asking photographers not to click her to openly discussing her discomfort with paparazzi culture, the veteran actor has remained vocal about how she wants to be approached in public.

For Jaya, the distinction between journalism and paparazzi has been a recurring theme. Her comments in the past have made it clear that she respects traditional journalism while objecting to what she considers intrusive celebrity photography.

The viral clip has now brought that long-standing debate back into focus, with social media users once again discussing where the line between a public figure's privacy and the media's right to ask questions should be drawn.
