Morotola has reportedly started rolling out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update to Moto X Play device in Canada and India. This is the latest version of Google's operating system that released in October last year.

Motorola was prompt in releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices. It has already seeded the firmware to Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto G (3rd Gen), Moto G Turbo Edition and Moto G (2nd Gen), while its counterparts, like Samsung, are yet to release it to their flagship devices.

The Moto X Play handsets in Canada received Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in December. Now, MobileSyrup (via GSMArena) has reported that the device has started receiving Android 6.0.1 version along with the March security patches and some new emojis in the country.

A report by Fone Arena has also said that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has been rolled out to Moto X Play device in India. The update weighs 387.4MB and comes with the same March security update and a few emojis. The device has already received Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in January in the country.

How to install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on the Moto X Play:

- You should get firmware update notification message on your handset

- Select "Yes, I'm in"

- Your phone will re-start automatically after installation

- Your phone is now updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

For manual update:

- Go to Settings Select "About phone"

- Select "System updates"

- Select "Yes, I'm in"

- Select "Install now" after downloading is done

- Your phone will re-start automatically after installation

- Your phone is now updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

You can also manually check the availability of the new software by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System updates' >> 'Check For Update'.

Motorola devices that are yet to receive the firmware update are Moto X (2nd Gen), Moto X Pure Edition, Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo, DROID Turbo, Maxx 2, Moto E (2015), Moto G Turbo, Moto X Force and Moto E (2nd Gen) 4G.
