Google's mobile software team Android has released a new 5.0.2 Lollipop update to the 2012 flagship tablet Nexus 7.

The new Android 5.0.2 update (LRX22G) is said to be much bigger than the v5.0.1 software. It is expected to fix Mount-Service start issue (now with the update, it is should now start before performBootDexOpt) and boost the NAND speed and in turn enhance the performance of the device, reported XDA Developer Forum.

If Nexus 7 owners are getting the OTA (Over-The-Air) update notifications, then select - "Yes, I'm in" option >> then, after downloading, select >> "Install now." The tablet will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new software.

It has to be noted that Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA update is rolled out in phases, so it will take some time to reach all the corners of the country.

Until then Nexus 7 2012 (Wi-Fi) owners can check manually on the phone for update notifications:

Go to: Settings >> About Phone >> System update >> check now

As of now, there is no word on whether Google will release the new 5.0.2 to other Nexus devices or not. It is to be noted that Google never released 5.0.1 to Nexus 7 2012 Wi-Fi and its mobile variant –'nakasig' is yet to receive the 5.0 Lollipop.

Going by recent developments, we believe 5.0.2 update is device specific. But this is just our intuition. Until Google comes out and clears the air over this report, our comment will remain as pure speculations.

If any Nexus 7 2012 (Wi-Fi) owners are getting the new update and notice any improvements seen inside the device, please feel free to share your experience in the comment section below.
