The trailer of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's much-awaited spy thriller Alpha was unveiled on Wednesday. Packed with high-octane action, slick visuals, hand-to-hand combat, gunfights and a pulsating background score, the over two-minute-long trailer offers a deeper look into the film's plot while answering several questions raised after the teaser's release.

When the teaser dropped last week, many users pointed out that it focused almost entirely on Alia Bhatt, with no visible glimpse of Sharvari despite her being one of the film's lead actors. While neither the makers nor the actresses initially responded to the chatter, Alia appeared to address it on Wednesday.

Taking to Instagram, Alia shared a series of cheerful behind-the-scenes pictures with Sharvari. The duo was seen twinning in white T-shirts with "Alpha" written on them while striking playful poses. However, it was Alia's caption that grabbed attention.

Taking a humorous dig at the speculation surrounding Sharvari's absence from the teaser, she wrote, "Where is Sharvari?"

Hours later, Yash Raj Films dropped the trailer, which not only introduced Sharvari's character but also featured a surprise cameo by Hrithik Roshan's Agent Kabir, further strengthening Alpha's connection to the YRF Spy Universe.

About the trailer

The trailer opens with Bobby Deol's character Fateh revealing the name of Alia Bhatt's character, Sita. Taking inspiration from the Ramayana, Fateh names her Sita because her mother's name was Janaki. He is then seen training her for a secret mission while grooming her into a deadly operative.

Alia's character introduces herself with the powerful line, "Sita aaj Lanka khud jalane aayi hai," followed by "Shuru karo agni pariksha," followed by Sharvari and Alia's character in some jaw-dropping action moves.

While the teaser had led many to believe Fateh was Sita's father, the trailer reveals otherwise. Through a voiceover, Sita describes Fateh as an arrogant and deceitful "rakshas" like Ravana. She reveals that he had abducted her as a child and later raised and trained her.

"One day, he kidnapped a princess and took her home. History knows how this story ended. But this time, Sita herself is here to burn Lanka," she says.

The trailer then shifts into a series of action-packed sequences in which Alia takes down enemies single-handedly. Sharvari finally makes her entry during a combat sequence with Sita. The two initially clash before eventually joining forces against Fateh.

The trailer also features Anil Kapoor, reprising his role as RAW chief Colonel Vikrant Kaul from War 2. He warns Sita that the Alpha programme, initiated by Fateh, is determined to eliminate every obstacle standing in its way, including India's interests.

"India didn't respect Alpha. Now India will fear Alpha," a menacing Fateh declares in one of the trailer's standout moments.

Set against the chartbuster track "Jamaican Bam Bam" by French DJ Hugel and SOLTO (FR), the trailer blends espionage, mythology references and adrenaline-fuelled action, positioning Alpha as a major addition to the YRF Spy Universe.

The biggest surprise arrives in the final moments when a child at a monastery tells Sita and Sharvari's character, "He's waiting for you over there."

Hrithik has a blink-and-miss appearance, as only his eyes are seen.

When Sita asks, "He will save us?" the trailer cuts to a mysterious figure dressed in white. The final shot reveals a close-up of Hrithik's intense green eyes as Agent Kabir.

Social media users were quick to react to the cameo.

"Ayyyyyy!!!! I was not expecting that last-second glimpse. Hrithik is back!" wrote one fan.

"Omg, too good. Both the girls are looking amazing. What a twist with Bobby's character! And omg, Hrithik at the end," commented another.

A third user wrote, "Kabir is ready."

Many also hoped for appearances from other YRF Spy Universe characters, with one fan commenting, "Finally Hrithik Roshan as Kabir. Hope to see Tiger and Pathaan too."

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in key roles. The film is touted as the first female-led instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. Alpha will hit the big screens on July 3, 2026.
