Ajay Devgn has again postponed the release date of his upcoming film "Action Jackson", but Devgn's move will benefit Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" at the box office.

"Action Jackson" directed by Prabhudeva was initially set to release in June, but the actor changed the release date to 7 November. Now Eros Entertainment decided to delay the release date by a month and the action thriller is now slated to release on 5 December.

Interestingly, Saif Ali Khan's "Happy Ending" was scheduled to release on 5 December, but the makers postponed its release date to 21 November.

Now, "Action Jackson" won't face competition from "Happy New Year", set to release on 24 October, which is one of the biggest movies of this year. But Abhishek Bachchan's "All Is Well" and Anurag Kashyap's "Ungly" might pose a threat to Devgn's film at the box office.

The change in the release date was planned by the makers so that "Action Jackson" will get free two weeks run without any competition, DNA reported.

Now that Devgn has shifted the upcoming film's release date to December, SRK's "Happy New Year" will get three weeks of free run at the box office worldwide. After 24 October, the next big film "Kill Dil" starring Govinda, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar will release on 14 November.

Meanwhile, the makers will release the first look of "Action Jackson" on 24 September and will reveal the trailer on 2 October along with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer "Bang Bang".

"Action Jackson" is an action drama that features Sonakshi Sinha in the female lead role. Unlike his previous action hero looks, Devgn will be seen in a different avatar in "Action Jackson".

"Ajay will be fighting of course, and doing a lot of dancing. It's the kind of role he has never done before," Prabhudheva told Subhash K Jha.
