Aishwarya Rai, Jaya Bachchan, Twinkle Khanna, Sridevi and other Bollywood actresses observed Karva Chauth vrath (fast) on Tuesday at their homes.
The Bollywood divas fasted for the whole day to pray for the well-being of their husbands.
Aishwarya and Jaya celebrated Karva Chauth at their "Janak" home in Mumbai. They broke their fast after sighting the moon on Tuesday evening.
This year's Karva Chauth was a bit different for Aishwarya, as hubby Abhishek was out of country for the shoot of his film. However, she used Skype to see Abhishek's face and then broke her fast.
"Karvachauth" celebrated ... wives prayer for the longevity of their husbands done after the sighting of the moon through the sieve .. the fasting complete .. water taken .. and the fineries and the prayers of the ladies over .. such sacrifice, devotion and love ... rare in most other communities ..." Amitabh Bachchan posted on Facebook.
"Abhishek out of country on shoot .. so face of husband seen through Skype, for Karvachauth by Aishwarya .. what times we live in," he said on Twitter.
Anil Kapoor organised a small party for all the family members and his friends at his residence to celebrate the festival. Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep, Chunky Pandey and his wife Bhavna and other people attended the occassion.
But it was "English Vinglish" actress Sridevi who stole the limelight. The actress looked beautiful in a maroon sari with golden border.
Actress Twinkle Khanna also observed a fast for her husband Akshay Kumar. The couple later went for dinner at actress Gayatri Joshi's residence in Mumbai.
