Popular Telugu actor Ahuti Prasad died of cancer at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday, 4 January. His sudden death has shocked many in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
It was recently reported that Ahuti Prasad was diagnosed with cancer and members of his family had declined to make it public. This morning, the actor was reportedly rushed to the KIMS hospital in Secunderabad due to health problems. He lost his battle with cancer, while undergoing treatment.
He was born as Adusumilli Janardhan Vara Prasad in Koduru, Krishna district near Mudinepally. Later, his family migrated to Raichur in Karnataka.
He was interested in acting during his college days. After completing his eduction, he moved to Hyderabad and joined the Film Institute, where he underwent training in acting
He started his acting career with V Madhusudhan Rao's "Vikram", which also marked the acting debut of Nagarjuna. After seeing his acting skills, producer Shyam Prasad roped him for his film "Ahuti", which gave him a big break and made him popular as Ahuti Prasad.
Then there was no look back for this talented actor, who starred in over 120 Telugu movies. He also featured in a couple of Tamil films. He received Nandi Award for Best Villain for the film "Nenu Ninnu Premistunnanu" in 2003 and for Best Character Actor for the film "Chandamama" in 2008.
Ahuti Prasad is survived by his wife, son Karthik Prasad and daughter Bharani Prasad. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced state funeral for him.
