A suicide bomber detonated his vest near the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on Monday, in the second such terror attack near the airport in the Afghanistan capital since last week.

The blast occurred at a police checkpoint at 11 am local time on Monday, according to TOLO News. There have been no casualties apart from the suicide bomber's, Reuters reported.

Last Monday, a Taliban suicide bomber targeted a convoy of foreign troops in the Hawa Shinasi area near the airport, killing one civilian and leaving several others injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for the 4 January attack yet.

The Kabul airport was also targeted by the Taliban in a terror attack in August 2015, when a bomb blast ripped through the airport entrance, killing five people.
