US President Donald Trump sharply criticised Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance, calling it an "affront to the Greatness of America" and a "slap in the face" to the nation. As the game was underway, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to attack both the music and choreography, describing the show as "absolutely terrible" and "one of the worst ever."

He claimed the performance "made no sense" and failed to reflect America's "standards of success, creativity, or excellence." Trump also mocked the language of the songs, saying "nobody understands a word this guy is saying," and labelled the dance routines "disgusting, especially for young children." In the same post, he accused the "fake news media" of praising the show and used the opportunity to criticise the NFL's new kickoff rule.

Earlier, however, Trump struck a more positive note as the Super Bowl kicked off, posting a separate message wishing viewers well and declaring the country "stronger, bigger, and better than ever," according to Variety.

Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime performer last September by the NFL in partnership with Apple Music. The choice drew criticism from Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who publicly condemned the selection, calling the Grammy-winning artist divisive and arguing that the league should have chosen a more "inclusive" performer, Variety reported.

The halftime appearance is notable as it represents Bad Bunny's only scheduled US performance this year, with his Debi Tirar Mas Fotos World Tour skipping the country. The singer had earlier told I-D magazine that concerns over ICE raids influenced his decision not to tour the US, as per Variety.

Trump later reiterated his criticism, calling Bad Bunny's selection "absolutely ridiculous" and adding that he was unfamiliar with the artist. In contrast, Bad Bunny has described the Super Bowl appearance as a milestone for Latinos in the US, telling Variety that it was a collective achievement that could not be erased.
