Telugu film "A...Aa" inched closer to $0.5 million mark at the U.S. box office on its first day. The film has become the highest grosser for Nithin, beating the life-time collection record of "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde" (GJG).

Blue Sky, which acquired the overseas distribution rights of "A...Aa" for a fancy price, held premiere shows for the movie in over 130 cinema halls across North America on Wednesday night. The distributor reduced its ticket price to less than $13, which helped the film register decent advance booking. The flick witnessed a large amount of footfalls in the preview shows in all the centres across the country.

"A...Aa" collected $251,548 at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows and became the biggest opener for Nithin. The film also emerged as the fourth biggest opening Telugu movie in 2016, beating the record of "Sarainodu" in the country. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Telugu film #AAaMovie starts on a SPLENDID note in USA... Wed previews $ 251,548 [₹ 1.69 cr]... Expect a TERRIFIC weekend! @Rentrak (sic)."

The Trivikram Srinivas-directed movie also smashed the life-time business records of Nithin's recent releases "Courier Boy Kalyan" ($31,338), "Heart Attack" ($75,609) and "Chinnadana Nee Kosam" ($116,121). Trade analysts predicted that on its first day "A...Aa" would beat the life-time record ($361000) of "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde," which was the highest grossing film in the U.S. for Nithin.

Telugu film critic and trade expert Idlebrain Jeevi ‏tweeted on Jun 1, "#AAaMovie collects $217k so far for premieres in USA. @actor_nithiin highest is $361k for GJG. A Aa will cross it by Friday! Fantastic!"

The Nithin and Samantha-starrer got massive response in the country on its opening day. "A...Aa" has collected approximately $244,091 at the U.S. box office on the first day, taking its U.S. total collection to $495,639. Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted on June 3, "Trivikram shows his raw power with #AAaMovie as it collects $495,639 by Thursday in USA! Weekend starts today!! Million exp by Satday! "
