As many as 46 countries have already registered for the Defence Expo 2016, which is scheduled to be held in Goa. In addition, 978 companies have shown interest in participating for the four-day event. 

The expo, which was earlier held in New Delhi, will steer the path of steady growth, Press Trust of India reported. "Defexpo India 2016, the ninth in the series of biennial land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems Exhibition, will be held in Quepem Taluk of South Goa from March 28-31, 2016," the defence ministry said on its official website. 

Some of the companies that will be participating in the event are: Airbus group, BEML limited, Cochin Shipyard, DRDO, HAL, JSW, Dassault System, Honeywell Aerospace, Lockheed Martin Corp.

The eighth edition of the Defence Expo was held in 2014. "It recorded an unprecedented growth in foreign as well as domestic companies participated over its previous editions. An impressive 232 foreign companies from 32 countries participated in the show," the ministry said. 

Some of the countries participating for the ninth edition of the expo are: the U.S., UK, Sweden, Brazil, Russia, Poland, Nigeria, Israel, Hong Kong and Portugal, among others. 

On March 28, seminars such as "State of Art Technology in Shipbuilding Initiative and requirements of Indian Defence Shipyards" would be held. On the next day, i.e., March 29, ASSOCHAM would hold global investors summit on the defence sector. 

Additionally, another industrial body — the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) — will host a seminar and is likely to discuss the modernisation programme of the Indian Army, the PTI report added.
