The grand function of the 63rd Filmfare South Awards (2016), which was held at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre on June 18 is being aired on MAA TV on Sunday evening (Aug 7).

MAA TV has acquired the rights to telecast the event of the 63rd Filmfare South Awards (2016). The bosses of the channel took to its official Twitter handle on Saturday to reveal the news about its telecast. They wrote: "63rd #FilmFareSouth Awards 2016..Telecast this Sunday (Aug 7th) at 6 PM on @MAATV ... #FilmFareOnMAA."

The bosses of Filmfare South Awards honour film personalities belonging to 10 categories each in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. They announced the nomintations list for the all the four language films at a press conference held in Hyderabad on June 7 and actress Rakul Preet Singh, who was the guest of honour, kick-started the event by lighting the lamp.

Later, Filmfare conducted a month-long survey on its official website and thousands of movie buffs cast their votes for their favourite celebs and movies in the poll. The winners were chosen based on the audience's votes and they were given away the trophies at the grand gala event held in Hyderabad on July 18. The award ceremony was hosted by singer Chinmayee and actor Rahul Ravindran.

This starry and glitzy awards ceremony witnessed a grand union of the stars from the four South Indian film industries -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Megastar Chiranjeevi, Mammootty, Suriya, Puneeth Rajkumar, Vikram, Rana Daggubati, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Nivin Pauly, Dhanush, Venkatesh, Arya, Nayanthara, AR Rahman and Anushka Shetty and a host of others were present on the occasion.

The awards were given away to the winners amidst various entertainment programmes and actress Haripriya kick-started the proceedings with her energetic performance. Later, Rakul Preet Singh, Pranitha, and a few other actresses performed on the occasion.
