The latest iteration of the Jeep Compass compact SUV has been leaked ahead of its public unveiling. The leaked images indicates the Compass has turned a baby Grand Cherokee in terms of design.

The pictures of new Compass snapped by Autoo.com.br in Brazil are significant for India as well, since Jeep India will be launching the India version of this model as C-SUV. Jeep India will also manufacture this model in Ranjagaon factory for domestic market as well as for RHD global markets.

The design of the new Compass is a departure from the current ordinary-looking Compass. The new version is crisper in design which is in line with the Grand Cherokee. The pronouncing grille and wrap around headlamp gives a contemporary look to the new Compass. The alloy wheels are in chrome shade and the vehicle also sports a contrasting roof colour.

The vehicle is expected to get eight-inch infotainment system and features like climate control and push-button start. The new Compass is a five-seater SUV and yet will have the option of seven-seat layout.

The India-spec Jeep Compass is expected to be powered by a 172.3bhp 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet II diesel engine that will be localised. The engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic gearbox. The engine will also be seen in Tata's Q501 SUV in the future.
