A 14-year-old girl in Mumbai committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of a residential building in Mira Road after her classmate allegedly posted obscene messages on a fake Facebook profile of her that he had created.

The boy, a class-10 student, was arrested and sent to a juvenile home.

The incident happened on 20 October, days after the girl's parents approached the police with a complaint against the boy. They alleged that the boy was stalking their daughter. The boy was called to the police station and let off with a warning, NDTV reported.

After the police complaint, the boy allegedly created a fake Facebook profile of the girl and posted obscene messages on it.

The girl committed suicide after she came to know about the Facebook profile and its posts.
