"Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" star Ranbir Kapoor seems to have been impressed with south star Dhanush's work in his upcoming debut film "Raanjhanaa."

Ranbir, who watched the promos of "Raanjhanaa", is said to have liked Dhanush's performance and showered him with compliments when he met the actor at a suburban studio. The two reportedly had a long conservation and Ranbir promised to help him in times of need. Apparently, Ranbir invited Dhanush to his Krishna Raj residence in Bandra, Mumbai.

"Ranbir told Dhanush that despite not being too well versed with Hindi, on screen he looks at ease. Ranbir invited Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya to his bungalow Krishna Raj for dinner," said Ranbir's spokesperson, according to The Asian Age.

Dhanush, who is more popularly known in south films, will make his Bollywood entry with "Raanjhanaa". The actor will star alongside Sonam Kapoor in the love story set in the backdrop of Banares.

The trailer of the film, which was released in April, has already generated a lot of buzz. The film's release has been slated for 21 June. "Raanjhanaa" is seen as an important film in Dhanush's career as it would be his first in Bollywood.

Until now, south actresses including Sridevi, Jayaprada, Ileana, Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannah and Taapsee have been able to achieve success in Bollywood. When it comes to actors, even popular stars like Rajinkanth and Kamal Haasan have not been able to break the south Indian jinx.

Dhanush has already achieved national fame with his "Why This Kolaveri Di" song. It is yet to be seen if the actor, who is the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, will be able to make it big in Bollywood. Just like Dhanush, another popular south star who awaits his Bollywood debut is Ram Charan Teja. The Telugu star, son of Chiranjeevi, will be seen playing the role of an angry young cop in "Zanjeer", the remake of 1970s film starring Amitabh Bachchan.
