Ranbir Kapoor's newly released film "Besharam" witnessed a significant drop in its collections on the second day at the domestic box office.

The ₹60-crore action comedy film was a mid-week release because of a national holiday. The film raked in around ₹21.56 crore on the opening day, but on the second day (Thursday) the film's collections dropped by 45 to 50 percent.

"Besharam Day 2 figure is looking at ₹7.13 cr [or slightly more] ranges," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film, which was screened across 3,600 screens, has accumulated around ₹28.69 crore in just two days of its release in India.

Directed by Abhinav Kashyap ,"Besharam" registered good occupancy in morning shows. But the evening and night shows did not perform to the optimum, Adarsh said.

The film, which also features Pallavi Sharda, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, was slammed by critics and even audiences who took to Twitter to express disappointment. Word of mouth for the film also turned out negative which affected the collections drastically.

"Of course, the business does witness a declining trend if it's a working day after a big holiday, but in this case, even the circuits which performed exceedingly well on Day 1, witnessed sharp falls," Adarsh said.

Mumbai, Delhi, UP, Punjab, Rajasthan and Mysore contributed the most towards the film's collections.

Now all eyes are set on the weekend, where collections generally shoot up. But with negative reviews, it is possible that the film might end up as as a box office flop.
