During the Redmi Note 3 launch event in New Delhi March 3, Xiaomi's vice president (global operation) announced the company's flagship smartphone Mi 5 will be made available in India next month.
Now, Xiaomi has begun sending out invites to media houses for the Mi 5 launch event scheduled for March 31. The company is expected to officially announce the device's price and availability details at the event.
From what we have gathered, Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be priced under Rs. 27,000. However, there are no details with regard to specific release date and also whether the company will roll out the premium Mi 5 Pro with 4GB RAM/128GB storage in India or not.
For the uninitiated, the new Xiaomi Mi5 series comes in three variants housing different storage and CPU configuration. The top-end model, dubbed the Mi 5 Pro, comes with Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage.
Whereas the other two variants ship with 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820+3GB+32GB and 1.8GHz Snapdragon+3GB RAM+64GB storage.
The rest of the specifications remain same in all the three models. They feature 5.15-inch full HD display, fingerprint sensor, latest Android Marshmallow OS based MIUI v7.0, a 16MP Sony IMX298 camera, a 4MP snapper on the front and a 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
