Kolkata, Sept 16 (ANI): BJP candidate Shamik Bhattacharjee won the Basirhat Dakshin seat in West Bengal on Tuesday by a slender margin of 1,742 votes, while Trinamool Congress (TMC) Party nominee Nayana Bandhopadhyaya defeated her nearest BJP rival Ritesh Tiwari by 14,000 votes to retain the Chowringhee seat. The members of the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) also celebrated at their office in Kolkata, after bypolls trends showed the party to be leading by a small margin. TMC leader Mukul Roy said that there is no place for communal politics in West Bengal. Congress and Left are insignificant in the state.
