The plot of "Shadowhunters" revolves around Clary Frey's (Katherine McNamara) search for her mom and the mortal cup. However, how will she accomplish her missions since her memories have been erased? Clary will continue to search for Valentine and this will land her in trouble in Season 1 Episode 5.
The TV series, adapted from the book series, "The Mortal Instruments," will depict Clary and her friend Simon's (Alberto Rosende) journey into the dangerous werewolf territory. The shadowhunter and her mundane friend will be kidnapped and shoved into a car, while a helpless Alec (Matthew Daddario) will watch on.
The parabatai's anxiety is not misplaced. He looks scared of the consequences and doesn't want to ruin his friendship with Jace (Dominic Sherwood). In the promo for the upcoming episode, Jace tells his friend to keep an eye on Clary and ensure her safety, while he travels on a diplomatic mission. Even though Alec looks at Clary as an irritation in his and Jace's relationship, he knows that not rescuing Clary will affect the shadowhunters deeply.
In the promo, he tells Jace that he watched Clary and Simon get kidnapped and Jace looks extremely angry. Does this incident create cracks in the shadowhunters' relationship?
Just as Clary goes on a hunt to find Valentine (Alan Van Sprang), he becomes stronger and more powerful. Valentine creates an army with sick people as his foot soldiers. In the promo, the villain promises a better life and future if they join him. He then goes on to stamp a rune into one of the men's neck and says, "You will be free." However, it looks like this freedom entails transforming into a prototype of some sort. One of Valentine's men inject a spurious liquid into the man's neck, prompting Valentine to say, "If he is worthy, he will live. He will live in the glory of angels."
"Shadowhunters" Season 1 Episode 5's synopsis on TV Guide reads:
Tensions escalate between Clary and Alec when they disagree on the best way to hunt down Valentine; and Alec struggles with the Clave's rules after he's tasked with keeping Clary safe while Jace and Isabelle are sent on an intel mission to the Seelies. Meanwhile, the werewolves from NYC begin their hunt for Clary and the Moral Cup.
