Vikram-Shankar's magnum opus "I" has created new records in pre-release business.

"I" is set to hit the screens for Diwali and the film's makers have started holding talks with distributors to sell the theatrical rights of the film.

The humongous success of "I" audio launch and the teaser have created a huge buzz surrounding the film. "I" is red hot in trade and there has been a huge demand for the film in pre-release business. The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights have been sold for a record price to Sushma Cine Arts, reported Sify.

The Andhra theatrical rights for the film's Telugu dubbed version have been acquired for a record price by leading distributor Tirupathy Prasad and RB Chowdary's Mega Super Good Films.

According to reports, the theatrical rights were sold at a price of ₹30 crore, which is the highest for any Telugu dubbed version of a Tamil film. It is being said that "I" has broken the record set by Rajinikanth's "Robo," which was sold for a whopping ₹27 crore.

In Kerala, "I" has fetched the highest price for any non-Malayalam film. "Neram" producers have bagged the film's Kerala theatrical rights, reported Behindwoods.

"I" is creating waves post the stupendous success of the film's audio launch. The presence of big stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and superstar Rajinikanth gave the film the much-needed publicity across India.

The film's teaser became an instant hit and fetched more than a million views within 12 hours. The teaser has now set a new record by clocking 50 lakh views (5 million) on the video sharing site YouTube. It is the first south Indian film to have crossed the 50 lakh mark. The teaser is still getting overwhelming response and is expected to cross 1 crore views (10 million) soon.

Directed by Shankar, "I" is a romantic thriller with Vikram appearing in multiple looks. Amy Jackson, Upen Patel and Suresh Gopi are also part of the film's cast. The film's music is composed by A. R. Rahman, while P. C. Sreeram has handled the cinematography.

"I" has been in the making for nearly two years and is currently in the post-production stage. Producer Aascar Ravichandran is planning to have a wide release for the film. The Vikram starrer will be clashing with Vijay's "Kaththi" and Vishal's "Poojai" at the box office.
