Globally acclaimed public transportation assist mobile application TRAFI was launched in select Indian metros, April 14.

"All over India improving public transport is a hot topic, central to the Smart Cities agenda of government. For that reason, TRAFI has decided to do its part in helping India improve, by spending over $1M during 2016 on delivering better information about public transport in all major cities of India," Martynas Gudonavičius, co-founder and CEO, TRAFI, said in a statement.

As of now, the TRAFI app supports public transportation such as metro (and sub-urban trains) and buses in two Indian cities Bengaluru and Mumbai. It is expected to expand its services to Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and other tier-1 cities soon.

The key aspect of the TRAFI app is that it provides information on nearest public transportation hub and also the arriving and departure schedules based on real time traffic details. In addition to these features, commuters will also have offline map and route search options, the company said.

Key features of TRAFI:

  • Route search
  • Schedules and timetables
  • News feed with live information
  • Interactive map of nearest stops
  • Real-time information
  • Next arrival times for your stop
  • Favourites - commuters can save the frequently used stops, home, and work locations for quick access
