The release date of Chethan Jayalal and Tovino Thomas' upcoming Malayalam movie "Guppy" has been postponed due to delay in getting censor permission. The makers have now announced that due to the new censor rules, the film would hit the screens only on Aug. 5.

"Dear all, due to the new censor rules a film can be censored only after uploading the content on Qube.. unfortunately the censor date allocated to us after that process is on 28th..it is impossible and impracticable to release a film on 29th after censoring on 28th...so we have been forced to postpone our release date to august 5th..kindly be with us till 5th and let us meet in person on 5th august.. [sic]," reads the post on the Facebook page of "Guppy - The Film."

With the latest announcement, "Guppy," which was earlier set to release with Mammootty's "White" and new-comer Shane Nigam's "Kismath," will now lock horns with Mohanlal's multi-lingual movie "Vismayam"/"Manamantha"/"Namadhu" and Sunny Wayn, Baby Sara-starrer "Annmaria Kalippilaanu" at the Kerala box office.

The trailer and the posters of the directorial venture of Johnpaul George has already impressed the audience and many celebrities lauded the makers calling it as a much-awaited movie of the year. The over 2-minute trailer has been viewed more than three lakh times on the YouTube page of the production house E4 Entertainment at the time of reporting. The movie also stars Rohini, Sreenivasan, Dileesh Pothan, Alancier Ley and Noby in significant roles.
