Among the summer releases in Kerala, Dulquer Salmaan's "Kali," Dileep's "King Liar," Nivin Pauly's "Jacobinte Swargarajyam" (JSR) and Biju Menon's "Leela" have performed well at the Kerala box office, raking in above-average collections.

"JSR," the Vineeth Sreenivasan-directed family entertainer, has found the first spot in the list of the top five summer releases. It collected an approximate amount of Rs. 18.90 crore within 35 days of its release in Kerala. The movie, which has become the highest grossing Malayalam movie of 2016 so far, has earned Rs. 2.53 crore from multiplexes in Kochi alone. The family entertainer, based on the real-life story of an NRI family, has also been performing well at the overseas box offices. "JSR" has grossed $17,292 from 19 screens during its fourth weekend at the U.S. box office. The total gross collection of the Nivin-starrer now reportedly amounts to $1,13,641 (Rs. 75.96 lakh).

"Kali" and "King Liar" have been ranked at the third and fourth positions, respectively, among the top releases of the holiday season. The Dileep-starrer is said to have earned Rs. 18.72 crore within 41 days of its release in the South Indian state. Apart from the Malayalam movies, other-language films like Disney's English version of "The Jungle Book" (second position) and Ilayathapathy Vijay's Tamil film, "Theri" (fifth position) have also been ranked among the top five summer releases during the period between March 26 and May 15. Meanwhile, the latest Prithviraj Sukumaran, Vedhika-starrer "James and Alice" has grossed an approximate amount of Rs. 4.68 crore over nine days and the four-day collection of Kunchacko Boban's "Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti" amounts to Rs. 1.73 crore.
