Suzuki Motor Corporation has confirmed the world debut of Ignis compact SUV at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015 scheduled to start on 29 October. Suzuki also confirmed a concept based on the Ignis, christened Ignis-Trail for the show. Ahead of the unveil, the Japanese manufacturer released the first images of the concept car.

The Ignis-Trail is essentially a rugged version of the regular Ignis with an array of visual updates. Suzuki describes the concept expands upon the Ignis of urban and outdoor versatility by offering even greater rough-road ruggedness.

The concept will feature bigger tyres and beefed-up wheel arches with mouldings stressing its off-road DNA with 4x4 layout. The car features red graphic line at the shoulder-line and fog lamp housing. The headlamp and grille cluster is also outlined in the red graphics.

The black alloy wheels in the Ignis are updated with red accents in the Ignis-Trail concept. Additionally the concept gets contrasting black roof shade and roof rails high lighting off-road feel.

Inside, the Ignis Trail concept receives a dual-tone dashboard in black and white theme. The orange-coloured inserts can be seen at the lower section of gearbox housing and door handles. The seats are upholstered in black and white theme. A newly designed three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, touch-screen display, automatic climate control, and an automatic transmission are seen in the picture released.

Suzuki is yet to disclose the power-train details of the concept. The engines rumoured to the regular Ignis are likely to be carry forwarded. The engines expected are a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, BoosterJet petrol motor and a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine with the SHVS mild-hybrid system mated to CVT gearbox.
