New Delhi, June 6 (ANI): Sumitra Mahajan, an eight-time BJP Member of Parliament from Indore, has been unanimously elected the Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha. Mahajan’s name was proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and seconded by senior BJP leader LK Advani and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Opposition leaders, including the Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, M Thambidurai (AIADMK), Sudip Bandopadhyay (Trinamool Congress), Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP), Supriya Sule (NCP) and Mohammed Salip (CPI-M) are among the 19-proposers for Mahajan's name. Mahajan, who has never lost a Lok Sabha election, has been representing Indore since 1989 and is the longest serving woman parliamentarian.
