LG launched a new version of Stylus 2 with Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus (DAB+) radio at the ongoing Radiodays Europe 2016 conclave in Paris.
The new LG Stylus 2 is touted as the world first smartphone to boast DAB+ radio application, wherein the users will be able to get access to more radio channels than just the traditional FM.
Regular radio apps draw large amounts of Internet data, whereas the DAB+ radio provides high quality audio for free, without the use of the phone's data.
"We are taking a proactive approach towards the fast-paced technological shift to digital broadcasting with DAB+ to deliver a new paradigm of experiences through the smartphone," Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in a statement.
"With its large 5.7-inch screen, 1 watt speaker and 3,000mAh removable battery, the LG Stylus 2 is the perfect device to enjoy rich, multimedia content," Cho added.
Another aspect of Stylus 2 is its pen like tool, which comes with a nano-coated tip. To enhance the user experience, LG has incorporated proprietary feature "Pen Pop", which toggles a popup menu when the stylus is removed to offer shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner.
LG Stylus 2 also boasts an intuitive feature dubbed as "Pen Keeper", which prevents the stylus from getting misplaced. It displays a popup message when the phone is detected as being in motion, while the stylus bay is empty. LG has also included a "Calligraphy Pen" font feature that allows users to write notes decoratively as if using a fountain pen.
LG Stylus 2 with DAB+ radio release details:
The company has confirmed that the new Stylus 2 with DAB+ radio will initially be made available in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom. However, the details regarding the actual release time frame and device's price is still under wraps.
