Tirumala, Nov 08 (ANI): Sri Lankan Prime Minister DM Jayaratne offered prayers at the famed Tirupati temple of Lord Venkateswara in hill town of Tirumala, near pilgrimage city of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is deeply revered by Hindus and is one of the most venerated pilgrimage centres in India. This was Jayaratne’s second visit to the temple. He had earlier offered prayers in 1994. Jayaratne said he was told by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to visit the temple when in India. He was blessed by temple priests as they chanted religious verses.
