Sony has commenced rolling out the long awaited Android Marshmallow to the company's two mid-range smartphones -- Xperia M5 and Xperia M4 Aqua series.

The new updates with build numbers 30.2.A.0.100 and 26.3.A.0.131 have been released to Xperia M5 (model: E5603) and Xperia M4 Aqua (and also Dual variant) in select regions, device users confirmed on XDA Developer Forum.

The new Android Marshmallow  brings Doze power-saving feature, an improved "Now on Tap" search option, silent mode added to the sound profile, more shortcuts, an intuitive boot security system, performance enhancing tweaks and Google's latest security patch.

It has come to light that the Marshmallow firmware for Xperia M4 Aqua series lack adoptable storage option, which means users will not be able to install apps in microSD card.

We are also not sure if the new update will include the enhanced Stamina battery mode, which is coming with new Android M incremental firmware for Xperia Z2, Z3 series later this month.

How to install OTA update on Android phone:

1. From the home screen, tap Settings

2. Scroll down to "System," and then tap About device.

3. Tap Download updates manually.

4. Tap OK.

5. Tap Start.

6. A restart message will appear, tap OK.

Since the OTA update is being carried out in phases, it will take a few weeks to reach all the corners of the world.
