Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has launched a new budget smartphone, Xperia E4.
The new Xperia E4 sports 5.0-inch qHD display and ships with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS powered by the 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core SoC (System on Chip). It is backed by 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and a 2300 mAh battery which can keep the phone running for close to 696 hours in the standby mode.
"With Xperia E4, we wanted to offer people some of the premium Sony features they have come to expect – with unparalleled ease of use – at a highly-competitive price point," said Tony McNulty, Vice President, Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications.
"With a simple set-up, great screen and unrivalled 2 day battery life we've created an on-the-go entertainment device that will keep on going, wherever you are," he added.
Sony Xperia E4 release date details:
The company has confirmed that the new Xperia E4 will hit stores in select markets around mid-February. It will reportedly be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM models, but the price-details of the devices are still under wraps.
Will Sony Xperia E4 set foot in India?
Its predecessor, Xperia E3, was launched in the subcontinent and if history is taken as any guide, we believe India will be part of Sony's phase-1 release program of Xperia E4.
Once released, it will compete with Lenovo A6000, Motorola Moto E, Moto G (both Gen 1 and 2), Asus Zenfone 4 (& 5 series), Lava Iris X8 and others.
