September is now on us which means summer movie blockbusters are a thing of the past and well soon be seeing Oscar hopefuls and serious dramas in cinemas. (Well, after Sausage Party is out anyway). But with with so many new films coming out this month, how do you pick which one to see?

IBTimes UK offers up a scaled-down guide of this months heavy hitters so you can choose your time spent in the darkness of a movie theatre wisely...

First up we have Sausage Party, which despite its brightly coloured and animated visuals, is certainly not for children! The film itself follows wiener Frank who, along with some of his other savoury friends, embarks on a journey to discover the truth about their existence and what fate really lies outside of those supermarket doors; aka The Great Beyond.

Heads up Frank, its not a particularly nice one! With the voice talents of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Salma Hayek and Kristen Wiig, its not to be missed if youre a crude comedy lover.

While our next recommendation is undoubtedly a lot more serious than our previous one, Hell Or High Water is surprisingly funny for a Texas-set heist drama, but thats all part of its brilliance. Written by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan and directed by David Mackenzie, it sees Chris Pine and Ben Foster play brothers Toby and Tanner who rob several branches of the bank that is about to foreclose on their family ranch.

The laughs soon die down though when soon-to-be-retired ranger Marcus, played by Jeff Bridges closes in on their escalating and dangerous schemes. You know those movies you didnt think people made anymore? This is one of those very gems.

Lastly, we have Bridget Joness Baby, a sequel to – as you may have guessed – Bridget Jones Diary and follow-up The Edge Of Reason. Having now broken up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), Bridget has found herself in a familiar predicament. But instead of letting herself get obsessive over single status, she throws herself into her work as a television producer.

A headstrong mantra that soon becomes threatened when she meets charming American Jack (played by newbie Patrick Dempsey). As their relationship blossoms, Bridget (Renee Zellweger) couldnt be happier but when she discovers that shes pregnant, the mother-to-be must figure out whether the father is Mark or Jack.
