Chandigarh/ Hisar, Nov 10 (ANI): Police and state administration in Punjab beefed up security measures on Monday (November 10) hours before murder-accused Sant Rampal is produced in court for contempt. Rampal faces contempt for skipping judicial proceedings before a sessions court in Hisar last Wednesday (November 05), after which a non-bailable warrant was issued against him and his aide. He had been earlier shifted to Barwala town in the Hisar district but will now be produced in the joint state Punjab and Haryana High Court. The District Collector (DC) of the Chandigarh administration where Rampal is to be produced later on Monday (November 10), Mohammed Shayin, said that security measures had been beefed up judging how last time about 50, 000 of his supporters had collected in protest. Rampal has been charged with murder; attempt to commit murder and other charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in 2006 after his followers attacked villagers.
