After weeks of speculation, Samsung has officially launched the 2016 series of the company's popular mid-range smartphones — the Galaxy J7 and J5 — in China.
Among the two, the Galaxy J7 (2016) is the higher-end phone. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD super-AMOLED screen with a metal-frame around the edges to provide a sturdy structure to protect against accidental falls. Also, the use of a high-quality metal alloy makes the mid-range device look premium.
Under the hood, it comes packed with a 1.6GHz octa-core SoC (System-on-Chip), 3GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory and a 3,300mAh battery, which can keep the device running for close to 354 hours in standby mode.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is a watered-down version of the Galaxy J7 (2016). It flaunts the same design language with metal frame, but comes with a smaller 5.2-inch HD super-AMOLED screen.
It houses a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory and a 3,100mAh battery.
Both the new Galaxy J7 and J5 series phones house the same camera hardware. They feature a 13MP primary camera with LED flash, autofocus and f/1.9 aperture, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/1.9 aperture.
As of now, the company has not announced the release and price details of the new Samsung phones.

Will Samsung release the Galaxy J7 (2016) and J5 (2016) in India?
Samsung is most likely to roll out the new Galaxy J7 and J5 series as their predecessors were bestselling smartphones for the company in 2015.
It is interesting note Samsung is hosting an event in India March 31. Many believe the company will announce the availability and price details of the aforementioned devices then.
