World's top smartphone maker Samsung launched the mid-range Galaxy Grand phablet in India, just a couple of months ago when the market was ruled by its expensive cousin - the Galaxy Note series.

Ever since Galaxy Grand was launch in January, the sub-continent has witnessed an influx of low-cost big-screen smartphones from Indian manufacturers such as Micromax, Karbonn, Lava and others.

A few days ago, Xolo, a subsidiary of Lava, launched the X1000 smartphone with a staggering CPU speed of 2GHz which makes it the fastest smartphone in the current Indian market.

With X1000 and Galaxy Grand placed in the same price-range, Indian consumers will factor in their unique specifications and features to make a final choice.

Here is brief description of comparison between Samsung Galaxy Grand and Xolo X1000:

Display:

Samsung Galaxy Grand sports a 5.0-inch screen with a not so desirable 480x800 pixel resoltuion display resolution. In comparison, Xolo X1000 sports a smaller screen size but an impressive HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution. With pixel density of 314 pixels per inch, the Xolo smartphone takes the lead against Galaxy Grand in this aspect.

Processor:

Galaxy Grand packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor whereas X1000 sports a faster single-core Intel Atom Processor Z2480 with 2GHz CPU.

But thanks to dual-cores, Galaxy Grand has an advantage over X1000 as the additional core enables multi-tasking, leading to lower energy usage and increased battery life span.

Camera:

Both Galaxy Grand and Xolo X1000 each pack an 8.0-megapixel main camera with flash support and Full HD video recording capability. They also sport VGA front cameras with minor difference in pixel count.

Mobile Operating System:

In terms of mobile operating system, Galaxy Grand and Xolo X1000 stand even in this department as they both run on Android mobile operating system.

Galaxy Grand still holds an upper hand on X1000 which sports a little outdated Android OS version Ice Cream Sandwich. Galaxy Grand which runs on the Android 4.1.2 OS Jelly Bean comes with more incentives such as home screen rotation and increased data load transfer using NFC. The Jelly Bean OS increases the device's performance as well.

In other aspects such as Graphics Processing Unit, Memory, RAM, network connectivity, both high-end smartphones have minor differences.

In terms of price, Xolo X1000 is priced ₹19,999 while Galaxy Grand goes for ₹20,900.
