After months of speculations, world smartphone leader, Samsung has finally unveiled the new Windows Phone OS powered Ativ SE in America.
Samsung Ativ SE boasts an energy efficient super AMOLED screen with full HD (1920x1080p) display resolution and runs on the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 64GB), and a 2600 mAh battery, which can provide power for up to 20 hours of usage time and close to 20 days under standby mode.
The only downside is that the new phone does not ship with the newly introduced Windows Phone v8.1 OS, which features a voice-assistant, Cortana (a persona inspired from multi-role playing game, Halo), which Microsoft claims has an intelligent of its own, capable of learning owner's behavior over time and store information (with permission) to use it to make recommendations and suggestions tailored specifically for the user.
On the bright side, Microsoft has promised to release the new OS update titled 'Lumia Cyan' with the new features to all Windows Phone 8 devices in a few weeks time.
Other stipulated specifications include, 13.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus, full HD video recording, 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front with full HD video recording ability, Ativ Beam app, NFC, WatchON app (InfraRed blaster to control smart TV) dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other value added features.
As of now, Ativ SE has been made exclusively available for American network carrier Verizon Wireless. There is no official word on whether the new Samsung phone will launch in other markets as such.
Nokia too had launched a flagship 5.0-inch smartphone Lumia Icon exclusive to Verizon in February this year, and later this month, the company unveiled a new phone with moniker Lumia 930 with similar specification for global market, So Samsung may also have similar plans, but this piece of report will remain as speculation until the company makes it official.
