Six people, including three women, were crushed to death and 11 others were injured when a tractor they were travelling in turned turtle and fell on them in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan on Tuesday.

Local police sources told International Business Times, India that the tractor was carrying 30 people — including women and children — from the same village when the incident happened near the Bhilwara district headquarters.

The actual reason behind the incident is being probed, but the police confirmed that it had not occurred because of a collision and that no second vehicle was involved. The needle of suspicion was initially towards the driver, who could have been negligent.

The police also told IBTimes India that the passengers travelling on the tractor were all residents of the same village in the Jhalawar district, and had gone to visit the shrine of Tanwar Rajpur saint Baba Ramdevji in the village of Ramdevra, which is located in the Pokhran district. The incident occurred when they were on their way back home on Tuesday.

Five of the 11 people who had been injured in the incident were taken to a local hospital, while the other six had been transferred to a government hospital in Bhilwara city. Details of their condition were not immediately available.

The six deceased were killed on the spot because the tractor fell directly on them.
