Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Atlee Kumar's "Theri," touted as a family action thriller, is all set to hit theatres worldwide April 14.

Latest online reports suggest the production venture of Kalaipuli S Thanu will be distributed in Kerala by popular production house August Cinema, co-owned by actors Prithviraj Sukumaran, Arya, cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and producer Shaji Nadesan. The company told International Business Times, India, talks are underway to acquire the theatrical rights of the Vijay-starrer, and it is expected to announce the confirmation regarding this within two days.

Sources close to the industry also say other distributors were not willing to take the distribution rights of the flick in Kerala as Vijay's previous movie, "Puli," had failed to make a mark at the box office. Meanwhile, rumours have it that the production house might also bag the Kerala theatrical rights of Rajinikanth's "Kabali," as the Pa Ranjith directorial is produced by S Thanu.

"Theri" is one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year, and its theatrical trailer has already raised the expectations of the audience. Vijay's character Jospeh Kuruvila's connection with Kerala in "Theri" makes it a much-awaited film for Keralites as well. The movie has Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson as the female leads. South Indian actress Meena's daughter Baby Nainika plays a pivotal role in the flick, which also has Prabhu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahendran, KS Ravikumar, Santhanam and Rajendran in significant roles.
