Washington DC, Nov 21 (ANI): President Barack Obama promised to ease the threat of deportation for about 4.7 million illegal immigrants, testing the limits of his presidential powers and inviting a showdown with newly emboldened Republicans.The president also said he will use his executive authority to allow undocumented residents to legally apply for jobs and join American society, but without any guarantee of permanent residency or citizenship. US President Barack Obama urged people to come out of shadows and live lawfully. According to reports, republicans said that the action, without Congress, is beyond his authority and the relations would become bitter. Drawing a line of defense against expected challenges, Obama argued that past presidents- both Republican and Democratic - had taken similar steps.
