Director Alphonse Puthren and actor Nivin Pauly's Malayalam movie "Premam" was the top grosser of the year 2015, having done well at the box office in Kerala. The movie has done tremendous business in Tamil Nadu as well, and is still running successfully at Escape Cinemas in Chennai, seven months after its release.

The Tamil audience has accepted "Premam" wholeheartedly and the movie has completed 224 days of its theatrical run in Chennai with decent theatre occupancy on almost every day till date. The movie is now being screened at Escape Cinemas at 6:45 pm every day.

As part of the movie's 222nd day of release, Nivin watched the film at the Chennai theatre with his fans in a houseful show. Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai also watched the film with the young superstar on Thursday. "PREMAM || 222 days || Chennai || Escape || 10 PM show today || Join us, (sic)" Nivin had posted on his Facebook page before watching the show on Thursday.

Nivin was in Chennai to be part of the music video "Spirit of Chennai", being produced and directed by Chiyaan Vikram as a tribute to the volunteers of Chennai flood relief. The music video will also see the presence of Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, Tamil stars Jayam Ravi, Jeeva, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Suriya, Sivakarthikeyan, Kannada actors Puneeth Rajkumar, Yash, and Telugu actors Prabhas and Ram Charan Teja.

Meanwhile, "Premam", which also has Anupama Parameshwaran, Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian in the lead, is being remade in Telugu as "Majnu". The movie stars Naga Chaitanya (in Nivin's role George), Anupama Parameshwaran, Shruti Haasan (in Sai's role Malar) and Amyra Dastur (in Madonna's role Celine), and will also see Venkatesh and Nagarjuna in cameos.
