Vacancies Galore in Indian High Courts

Most of the high courts suffer from an acute shortage of judges even as the Supreme Court of India has managed to overcome the problem to a great extent. Allahabad High Court, which has an approved strength of 160 judges, is among the worst hit with as many as 82 vacancies. Similarly, Hyderabad HC has 22 vacant posts out of 27, while Bombay HC need to fill 30 positions out of 94 and Delhi HC need 20 out of sanctioned strength of 60. High courts in Kerala, Maghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura have no vacancies.
