Salim Ahamed's "Pathemari", starring megastar Mammootty, has been tagged as one of the best films of the year. The film, which portrays the life of Malayali immigrants in the Gulf countries, has received an overwhelming response from the Kerala audience as it clearly depicts the real-life stories of their struggle.

One of the important scenes of the film showed a group of youngsters trying to illegally migrate to Gulf country in Lanchi Velayudhan's sloop. They had to face a huge storm and the ones who survived in the sloop despite the storm and scarcity of food were successful in reaching the Middle-East.

"Pathemari" was recently in trouble over Siddique's role as Velayudhan as many considered the film attempted to defame the character. The real-life Velayudhan's sons -- CV Baimini and CV Dhanesh -- asked the director to remove the scenes towards the end of the film that show the character as a mentally unstable person.

"Pathemari" also has Jewel Mary, Sreenivasan, Balachandra Menon, Joy Mathew, Salim Kumar and Yavanika Gopalakrishnan in pivotal roles. The film has approximately collected Rs 7.10 crore from 15 days of its theatrical run.
